CIVIL RIGHTS INVESTIGATION OF THE MINNEAPOLIS POLICE DEPARTMENT
On June 2nd, the Minnesota Department of Human Rights launched a civil rights investigation of the Minneapolis Police Department. According to Governor Tim Walz, "the investigation will review MPD's policies, procedures and practices over the last 10 years to determine if the department has utilized systemic discriminatory practices towards people of color."
ALL FOUR OFFICERS INVOLVED CHARGED
Attorney General Keith Ellison elevated charges against Derek Chauvin, the ex-Minneapolis police officer involved in the killing of George Floyd. AG Ellison additionally filed charges against J. Alexander Kueng, Thomas Lane and Tou Thao, the other three ex-Minneapolis police officers involved.
